Episode 15 is all about Reinventing Yourself with John Morrall
I originally wanted to interview John about opening and creating a successful passion + lifestyle business – he’s the owner Jetts Noosa, our favorite gym where we live in Australia.
But when I sat down to have a pre-interview chat with John, I realized there’s so much more to his story that I wanted to share. John’s led an extraordinary life and is truly a master of reinvention with a unique attitude that has helped him pivot successfully, time after time.
So some backstory – a high school dropout, John created a successful career in the hospitality and nightclub industry in Victoria. But after his life was threatened and fearing for the safety of his family, he knew it was time for a change.
As a burley biker with earrings, tattoos, and a ponytail, he then completely reinvented himself as a salesperson for the music retailer Brashers and worked his way up to state manager for the whole of QLD.
Living the dream – he toured with the Rolling Stones, bought b-day presents for Celine Dion, traveled with the Brisbane Broncos – but in the midst of living the dream, his marriage broke down and he knew it was time for a significant change. So he left Brashers, bought a franchise and moved to Noosa.
But while he was working fewer hours, his lifestyle still hadn’t changed – he was still smoking a pack a day, was overweight, on anti-depressants, slept with a sleep apnea machine, and after a heart attack at 44, he knew it he needed a complete lifestyle overhaul.
Which led him to applying and getting accepted to Season 3 of the Biggest Loser in Australia.
And the rest I will leave for the interview!
